Blumarine
Founded and directed by Anna Molinari, Blumarine’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection set sail during Milan’s Fashion Week on September 20th, 2019.
Molinari, widely known for walking between the innovative and experimental – and always an air of the romantic – wished a bon voyage of sorts to her highly criticized jaunt with a more ‘streetwear’ aesthetic last year, opting for a return to everything beloved about the Blumarine brand. A coming back to what one knows- with always a twist of reinvention.
From the set design to the pieces in their intricacies, romance found its place at home. The show started off with a sequined off-the-shoulder blouse paired with beige suede shorts and scrunchy ankle boots, followed by sheer skirts and dresses in silks, satins, and soft cashmere halter sweaters with sweeping necklines. The designs were so sensual and enticing you could almost hear them whisper a kind of subdued poetry as they floated past down the runway.
At its core, Blumarine is a celebration of everything feminine and romantic, and there’s no better way to celebrate that femininity than with a dainty floral printed pastel. In Molinari’s finale, she came out with her two granddaughters to take her final bow. They all three wore blouses with the words, ‘Thank You’ printed on them. To that...we reply, “No, thank you!”
