5 Reasons My Hero Academia is a Must See: The Hype Behind the Heroes

My Hero Academia (My Hero or MHA for short) kicked off its highly-anticipated fifth season on Saturday airing “All Hands On Deck! Class 1A.”

The opening episode finds our heroes in their second year at U.A. High School. (A high school that specializes in training youth with special abilities or “quirks” on how to become future heroes.)

As part of a Joint Training Arc, the class is forced to face off with three extraordinary graduates of U.A. also known as The Big 3.

Why has this franchise become a megahit and what is the hype behind the heroes?

5. The Production Quality

Anime has gotten plenty of criticism over the years for being perceived as a lower-quality version of the animation. MHA is changing the way Anime is viewed by offering a high-resolution, quality production with vibrant imagery, outstanding audio, and engaging scripts.

4. The Setting

My Hero is set in a world where having special abilities known as quirks have become commonplace, essentially dividing the world into two classic categories: Good and Evil. The “good” characters strive to become heroes, willing to fight for the injustices of the world. While the “bad” characters or villains use their abilities for selfish gain and criminal purposes.

3. The Heroes

MHA distinguishes itself even further by showcasing an entire ensemble of heroes, unlike many of its predecessors, generally focusing on one main character in pursuit of an array of villains.

In addition, My Hero’s narrative lends itself to complex character development. Although each hero is unique in what type of ability they possess, they are united in that each one of them is on a journey to gain more mastery over their particular quirk.

2. The Villains

My Hero’s villains are equally matched to the heroes in sheer ability, strength, and in-depth of character. Depicted with their own set of inner struggles concerning their quirks, they are good at being bad. Making the villains of MHA formidable foes, to say the least!

1. The Script

The script begins with a young boy named Izuku Midoriya, a die-hard, a fanboy of all things superhero-related. He is very intelligent and informative in terms of the quirks, abilities, achievements, and feats of the superhero community, no matter how small or trivial they may seem. He is especially knowledgeable when it comes to his favorite No. 1 Pro-Hero, All Might.

Although Midoriya does not have any quirks of his own, it does little to deter him from fantasizing about what it would be like to be a superhero in training and one day attending the prestigious U.A. academy with his friends.

Not long into the script, Midoriya has a chance encounter with his favorite pro-hero, and a brave decision on Midoriya’s part changes his destiny forever, turning his former fantasies into reality.

My Hero Academia hailed as one of the best in Anime of all time, is not only highly awarded in its native Japan but also highly acclaimed among Western animators.

Ranked with a coveted 100% on the Average Tomatometer, and a 90% on the Average Audience Score on the leading TV/Movie review website, Rotten Tomatoes, it is easy to see why MHA has become so popular with Manga/Anime enthusiasts and mainstream audiences alike.

My Hero Academia season 5 will be available on the Funimation, Crunchyroll, and Hulu streaming platforms.
